Wind turbines and aviation safety: airsight projects in 2015
Contact Consulting Department
The strong development of wind energy leads to more and more wind turbines near existing aerodromes. With a height of up to 200 m or more above ground wind turbines can represent a serious obstacle for aircraft and also lead to adverse effects to air traffic control equipment (e.g. reflection, distortion).
Hundreds of renewable energy projects worldwide are stopped or constrained due to aeronautical reasons.
airsight, expert in air operations and flight safety, is able to liaise with the different stakeholders (airports, air traffic control, project developers) and aviation authorities and to generate practical concepts for enabling wind turbine installations or for optimising their construction.
In 2015, airsight conducted multiple projects related to wind farms and aviation safety, and reinforced its leading position in this field.
