Obstacle Free Surfaces (OFS)
Contact Consulting Department
airsight performs obstacle analysis with regards to the current obstacle limitations surfaces (OLS) as well as the upcoming new obstacle requirements as proposed by ICAO.
Over time, often the relevant OLS get infringed, e.g. by trees, and further analysis becomes necessary. Cutting trees or the removal thereof, often is difficult to achieve due to various stakeholders needs and nature protection requirements.
For multiple aerodromes, airsight recently developed and assessed the upcoming new obstacle limitation surfaces as proposed by ICAO. This allows aerodrome operators and other stakeholders to determine to identify critical areas where action is required, but also area where the grown obstacle environment may be acceptable.
According to the new proposed obstacle free surfaces (OFS), obstacles such as trees may be acceptable closer to the runway and cutting or removal is not necessary. Nevertheless, further analysis may be required as obstacle close to the runway may have an impact on other relevant aspects such as flight procedures and navigations aids (e.g. ILS).
airsight assists aerodromes, air navigation service providers and civil aviation authorities with its expertise and services regarding aerodrome safeguarding and obstacle assessments.
