Aircraft Detection Systems for Obstacle Lighting (ADLS) at Offshore Wind Farms
Contact Consulting Department
In recent months, the installation of ADLS for offshore wind farms has also progressed rapidly. Several ADLS for offshore windfarms in the North Sea as well as in the Baltic Sea have already been successfully validated and approved. In addition to the operators of offshore wind farms and ADLS manufacturers, airsight closely collaborates with the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH). In close coordination with the stakeholders, a flight test is conducted prior each final approval to demonstrate the detection and operational capability of the system. Critical points such as helidecks and flight corridors within and outside the wind farms are flown by helicopter and transponder signals received by the ADLS are assessed.
After successful validation of the proper functionality of the ADLS by airsight, the final approval for commissioning is granted by the BSH as the responsible authority.
airsight, as a world’s leading aviation safety specialist, is entitled by the German Ministry of Transport (BMVI) to perform the technical assessment and verification of aircraft detection systems for obstacle lighting as well as to conduct the flight operational review for the individual wind farms.
